6/19/2020 0 Comments 2020 half way already?!Poof! Where has the year gone?
Average Summer, floods, high winds, Covid-19 and boom, straight into Winter certainly has been a trying time for us Southerners. I'm amazed with all that that the year should have gone slowly but it is racing by - 4 weeks of level one isolation sped past and now feels very much a distant memory as normality-ish has returned. But, with isolation I for one really spoilt my skin. I didn't tan for 4 weeks, moisturised twice a day and drank plenty of water. My skin feels amazing and guess what = that makes the perfect canvas for a fake tan. We're all nervously contemplating the remainder of 2020, and there still aren't many events being planned. The good thing about a tan, whether it is getting a spray tan or self tanning, is having a tan makes you feel good and I have had many clients of the years get a tan just because they feel blah. So, if you're feeling blah - think about an appointment with me or purchasing the amazing self tan products I have that match my spray tan range. BIG news....... to encourage you back, I have reduced the pricing of single coat spray tans to $20. There is a Christchurch retailer coming to Invercargill that offers this price too, but I am far more experienced than the staff there will be with having my training by that organisation in 2013 and having completed over 3000 tans since. My premise is also far more discrete... think about leaving with a marinating tan with no bra on and walking down Esk or Dee Street- no thank you! In sleepy little Carron Street you can even be walked to the car parked directly in front with an umbrella if it is raining. I have 15 minute appointment times and, normally, absolutely no wait times as I run to schedule. Same price - more bang for your buck. Its challenging times for all of us, be kind to each other and support local as much as possible as we try to maintain a healthy industry in the South. Kia kaha Angela

12/21/2019 0 Comments Merry ChristmasWell thats a wrap on 2019 for Suntan Savvy with only a day and half left of business to go.
Thank you everyone for another big year of growth, tis the season for my clients to come out of hibernation and its been great to see you all again- I really do value your loyalty. I am now preparing for an even bigger year next year and be able to bring more service to you. Today I finalised the Shopify site so you can purchase the amazing range of self tan products for me to either post out to you, collect from me, or I also offer a once a week delivery service to the Invercargill and Winton area. Check out the new Shop tab where all the products available for sale are. You can also purchase from the Suntan Savvy Spray Tanning facebook page. I continue to be impressed by the MineTan product range of spray tans and self tan products. With the recent introduction of a mid range price of mousse getting great reviews they really have thought of everyone and their requirements. The results are non sticky, dry quickly, have incredible ingredients and are long lasting with even fade technology. I have a great supplier, and my orders are shipped the same day to arrive 1-2 days later - amazing service and amazing tans. The self tan mousse range is now very extensive. I have matching mousses for my range of spray tans so if you love your spray tan you can trust you will love the mousse too. The younger clients love the b.tan mousses, and their $20 price, and I personally have been using one as it is very dry, has a light guide colour and has no odor. Therefore I can marinate during the day with no one being any the wiser. I have been self tanning for years as I cannot spray tan myself so am happy to answer any worries you may have and give you my tips and tricks. As of February my hours are going to be 1pm to 8pm Monday to Friday with juggling room for groups or peak weeks where I always open up more hours to accommodate everyone. So with the silly season here, I'll be mixing up my coffee scrub (see my recipe in a past blog post) tomorrow and giving my skin some love before applying my tan on Monday for the week - is there any you'd like to me to trial and post the results for you? I know the weather has not been the show off your skin for Summer type yet, but having the perfect fake tan does make you feel special anyway.... and the sun might come out....... don't we hope?!!! Merry Christmas everyone, I do hope you are all well and that you have a safe and happy silly season. Lets talk soon Angela 1/12/2019 0 Comments Welcome to 2019Well, it's been far to long since I've done an update which is probably why I get a lot of people asking if I'm still in business..... I most certainly am!
Suntan Savvy Limited has gone from strength to strength and progressively gets busier with every passing year. I have now done over 3000 tans, so it's fair to say I'm an expert in my industry. I often receive calls and emails from industry colleagues for advice which I'm always happy to give. This is because a spraytan is a reflection on the whole industry - a good spraytan brings in new clients, a bad spraytan is bad for all of us in the industry. If someone has never had a tan they will think that is what we are all like. So if you want advice, I'm here to help and not paid by any supplier so my opinions are my own. I still maintain interest in all things tanning, and think to be a great tanner you need to keep up with the fast changing industry. It is no different to any other technology, and continues to change in spraytan solutions, self tan products, guns and all other equipment. For this reason I have changed brands after being let down over the last few years with delays in product delivery and reliability. I now support and endorse MineTan due their extreme fussiness (like me) in developing amazing products that are natural with no nasties. A very forward thinking company who don't sit back with a great tan but think hmmmm it is good but could it be better and make changes where required. The LuxeOil tan especially has the most incredible ingredients (check it out on the MineTan tab) and consequently I have 2 clients with extreme allergies that now have a dark tan they love that they have no reaction to. As well as organic and natural ingredients, it is also important to me that the products I stock do not contain any nasty parabens and sulphates. The MineTan products, including the amazing self tan mousses tick all the boxes. I implore you to read the ingredients of your self tan products as the most popular one sold in retail NZ contains parabens and sulphates. MineTan mousses do not contain nasties, are non sticky or smelly and last up to 7 days. I support anyone that wants to self tan but please use natural products as the idea of self tanning is to look after your skin. So to all the people that still afraid of fake tan in case they turn out orange, please be assured the products have evolved so much that this does not happen anymore... with Suntan Savvy Limited. So while we are all in the middle of wedding season madness, happy New Year everyone and I hope to see you all again soon. Much love and respect Angela 12/23/2016 0 Comments 2016 updateWow, I'm so overdue with an update so I promise I will be posting more in 2017.
This year has seen a consistent surge in business, and with it the option of paying by eftpos now. It's a win win, you don't have to get cash out and I have my customers on time because they don't have to stop and get cash out. There have been some products come and go. I've updated the website today and you may notice some products have been dropped. This is because better products have been developed and those that are slow selling got the chop. So my new tans this month are; B.Gorgeous Black Mousse for $30, B.Gorgeous Double Black spraytan which is Black's darker big sister, and new to the family is Naked.Tan with two very exciting world first tans! We have the medium dark "Don't rain on my parade" which is a 2 hour water resistant tan, (meaning you can get rain on it while processing and it won't spoil it) and the medium dark "Glow on the go" which is a 20 minute tan and the worlds fastest processing tan. More information on the tans can be found on the B.Gorgeous or Naked.Tan tabs at the top. With our great self tan and spray tan options there is no excuse for Southlanders to not have a tan with the terrible summer we're lumped with so far! So whereever you are, have a happy and safe festive season and I promise I'll be back in January with a new, very big and exciting development thats been brewing since July. Merry Xmas Angela 6/25/2015 0 Comments What's in MoroccanTan?SKIN CARE BENEFITS IN MOROCCAN TANJUNE 15, 2015There’s more to tanning these days than just deepening your skin shade. With the rise of organic and natural beauty reaching peak popularity, we’re starting to demand more from all of our beauty products—from makeup to skincare and all the way through to our bronzing. Here are some of the skin-perfecting ingredients you’ll find in our MoroccanTan range.
ARGAN OILOne of the rarest and most expensive oils in the world, Argan Oil comes from the nut of the Argan Tree found in Southwest Morocco. Its skin benefits are vast: from keeping skin soft and supple, reversing environmental damage, repairing wrinkles (by restoring skin’s natural moisture-producing hydro-lipid layer) and halting premature aging, to promoting tissue and scar repair, and acting as an anti-inflammatory. Simply put, it’s a skin all-rounder and will help you maintain a long-lasting, skin smoothing tan. ALOE VERAFrom the Aloe Vera plant, this ingredient is commonly used to heal burns (hello, summer sunburn) and eczema. However, it’s also a superstar moisturizer, containing up to 75 nutrients, 20 minerals, 12 vitamins (including A, B1, B2, B6, B12, C & E), 18 amino acids and 200 active enzymes. Great for those with oily skin, aloe vera hydrates without leaving a greasy finish. VITAMIN EOne of the key antioxidants for skin, Vitamin E protects and repairs skin from (often UV-induced) free radical damage and is essential for the proper utilization of oxygen in your skin cells. Easily penetrated into your skin, Vitamin E maintains softens skin at the surface, relieves dryness while maintaining skin’s core barrier function. ROSEHIP OILExtracted from wild rose bushes grown in the Southern Andes, Rosehip oil is full of vitamins, antioxidants and essential fatty acids, perfect for hydrating dry, itchy skin and fighting aging. What’s more, it helps to reduce scars and fine lines, while a high vitamin C count helps to reduce the appearance of dark spots over time. CAFFEINECaffeine has the ability to do more than just perk up your morning routine. As a stimulant, it has the ability to reduce puffiness, firm up the skin and act as an anti-inflammatory. There’s a research it’s one of the key ingredients in cellulite fighting: it tightens up the skin while boosting circulation 3/21/2015 0 Comments Home made Coffee ScrubHi everyone,
It has been a great start to the year and I am so blessed to have the support of all of you in my steadily growing business. No matter how much I spend on advertising, the bookings I receive from referrals mean the most to me so thank you for your trust and support. We know we have to exfoliate really well before a spraytan so any loose skin is sloughed off in preparation to receive a new spraytan. I have been using a homemade exfoliant recipe lately and love the results with my skin feeling so soft and moisturised - the perfect canvas for a new tan. I use it once a week but if I don't have a tan on I would twice a week. I love the coffee based recipes, as well as exfoliating, the caffeine encourages blood flow to the skin and is said to reduce cellulite and spider veins, is anti inflammatory, reduces redness, wrinkles and firms skin. The MoroccanTan Exotic range, MorrcanTan Dusk and MoroccanTan Nights, also has caffeine in them for this reason. So, here is the base recipe I use: TIP: DON'T USE THE DAY OF YOUR SPRAYTAN AS THE OIL LEAVES A RESIDUE ON YOUR SKIN 1 cup of finely ground coffee (freshly brewed if using straight away, or dry if giving as a gift) - anti inflammatory, reduces redness, fine lines and helps to firm skin as it is a diuretic drawing water from skin. 1 cup of brown or raw sugar - is exfoliating to remove dead skin cells on the top layer of the dermis and encourage growth of new cells. Can also use coconut sugar which is a bit more expensive. 1/2 cup of melted coconut oil (you can also use grapeseed oil or almond oil) - to replenish some of the oils your body produces naturally, and soothe and moisturise your skin. 1 T of cinnamon - encourages blood flow and is anti microbial which would help with any skin infections (eg acne or athletes foot) You can adapt the recipe and add in any of these optional ingredients: 1 T cocoa - to make it smell yummy 2 T raw honey - moisturising, anti inflammatory it has helpful enzymes and nutrients that nourish the skin. You may need to warm the honey so it is mixed more easily. Use less coconut oil if adding honey as it may make the mixture too wet. 1T ginger - helps open up your pores so the body can move toxins through the skin 1 T nutmeg - anti inflammatory and great when used in combination with honey for skin conditions like psoriasis and eczema. It is also known to help reduce scarring. 2-3 drops of essential oil - if not adding cocoa and to give the mixture a fragrance. Mix all the ingredients together and use immediately, or store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week. If you have used dry coffee, the mixture can be stored in an airtight container for months. This recipe makes enough for 2-3 fullbody applications, but you can reduce the quantities if you want to make less. To use: It's messy so best used in the shower! Rub generously onto wet skin all over your body in small circular motions, leave to dry for 5 - 15 minutes then rinse off. This is also safe to use on your face. This is a truly wonderful scrub, cheap and easy as all the ingredients can be found in your kitchen supplies. So the next time you're out for coffee, ask the barista if you can take your coffee grounds home and make up a mixture. Talk soon Angela x 2/20/2015 0 Comments Summer UpdateCan you believe that there is only a week left of Summer?! Wow that went fast! It has been so busy for me with people wanting tans during the first half because of cruddy weather, then the second half has been wedding season and people wanting tan lines blended out.
As Summer ends, we look to the ball season which starts on March 27th with the Central Southland College Ball. Have you checked the Welcome page and the $15 trail offer for school ball tans yet? Yes we are Invercargill and Winton based but where enough interest and a venue to setup is offered I can travel to other areas. I have a popup tent, an extractor fan unit and the most modern equipment to ensure any overspray doesn't leave the tent. Other popular requests are about our unlimited tanning concessions which are: 3 Month Unlimited: Moroccan Originals range $240, B.Gorgeous and Moroccan Exotics range $300 6 Month Unlimited: Moroccan Originals range $430, B.Gorgeous and Moroccan Exotics range $550 If anyone has any questions, please just ask - if you've never had a tan before or have only had bad experiences I want to reassure you and make you feel a million dollars at every step of the process. So be safe and still be proudly seen- get a healthy glow in the go with Suntan Savvy :-) 11/11/2014 0 Comments It's been a while!Hi everyone, it's been a while but I'm still ticking away and as excited as ever about the spray tan trade. Spring has been busy with many weddings, and other events so I am really looking forward to the silly season and having the province bronzed healthily.
There have been a few changes. Sadly my mum passed away at the end of May hence why I went a bit quiet over Winter. Many of you know how hard it was for Dad and I, and we were overwhelmed with the support we had. Thank you. But with thanks to mums wee legacy for me, I have bought a house in Invercargill so have two bases now to service my loyal and awesome friends and clients! I currently have a room set up in the new house, but the plan is to have half the garage converted into a dedicated spraytan salon next Winter. It's great to have all my equipment and products unpacked and setup. . B.Gorgeous have introduced 5 new tans! All with their amazing even fade technology and without the need to moisturise every day - how great is that! I have tried it, didn't put a lick of moisturiser on (except my face) and got a good 7 days as it slowly disappeared. Another friend moisturised one leg and not the other, and it faded the same. No patchiness! How great is that for brides who go on honeymoon straight after the wedding and don't have to worry about sitting around a pool in a swimsuit and patchy tan a week later?! How great is that for every working woman or busy mother too?! More details on the new tans can be found on the B.Gorgeous tab. Now that I have another base, for those Invercargill clients coming to me - I have a young black labrador called Gem. She is a big sook and scared of her own shadow so don't be afraid of her barking because she is actually really excited to have a friend visiting (because life is all about her ya know!) and when you get through the gate she will be more welcoming. I normally have her tied up or shut away when I have clients. I still have an amazing return and referral rate, and I'm meeting new clients every week. I absolutely love what I do, and the positive feedback is wonderful - but you are my walking advertisements so thank YOU. Thank you as always for being Suntan Savvy, lets talk soon :-) Angela.... and receptionist Gem. 5/1/2014 0 Comments Weekend for Girly thinking![]() Who says you can’t rock a spraytan in Winter? The dreaded Duck Shooting weekend is here, and leaving us girls to be girly with all signs of testosterone vanishing to a pond somewhere throughout Southland - yippee!!!! My tent and I are off out for drinks tonight, most people bring a bottle to a party, mine is of tanning solution these days!
I have had a whirlwind couple of months and I have all of you to thank. I am very proud of my 100% success rate in referrals and/or rebooking and absolutely love my job - making people happy and giving smiles and self confidence really is the best job in the world. Thank you for all the positive feedback. With two systems, and two trained spraytan technicians we can cope with covering the region and mass bookings. Remember we allow no more than 15 minutes at the most for the entire process, all our tans dry in a few minutes and are not thick and horrid looking while processing. My clients include people with very sensitive skin, with my most loyal having eczema and a skin condition that does not react at all to her beloved Moroccan Original. I spoke to 3 clients in one week that all got a rash from a supposed organic tan, they loved the colour but not the rash - getting a rash is not normal!!! Those 3 clients tried my tans and now love the Moroccan Gold, Original and Dusk - with no reactions or rash! I have introduced new products to the range, and many of you will wonder why when the initial Moroccan range is so damn great?! I was asked to try the Vani-T range and my guinea pigs comments were wonderful, but more than that it is incredible to apply, beautiful even, and dries super fast. I also love the wide range of retail products of the Vani-T range. Most of all, of all the tans I have tried over the last 10 years, Vani-T is the only one that doesn’t make my freckles and sunspots go darker. B.Gorgeous is a 100% Certified Organic solution, New Zealand owned and designed for New Zealanders skin (but made in Australia). B.Gorgeous guarantees even fading and the product is developed by the time you wash it off which is great for the last minute planners who decide to go out that night. The B.Gorgeous Rapid can be washed off in 1 hour for a light tan, 2 hours for a medium tan or 3-4 hour for darker - so tan on the way home from work and be showered and ready rocking your tan in time to go out for dinner! See? Great reasons for adding to the range - one solution does not suit everyone! I’ve got you covered :-) To all those duck shooting widows, enjoy your weekend - and be Suntan Savvy. 2/27/2014 0 Comments End of Summer :-(It's the last day of Summer, and it's a soggy one. Only in Southland can this day be met with enthusiasm as it heralds the opening of the Bluff Oyster season starting tomorrow! Never fear, with spraytan you can feel like it's a gorgeous summer's day every day of the year.
After a second surgery on my leg last month (it wasn't ok after all, but class 3), I am now full time for Suntan Savvy and I am really excited about the plans coming up over the next 2 months! Follow us on Facebook and keep up with our offers and locations as we move around the province. "Anybody need a spray tan? I highly recommend Suntan Savvy! The best spray tan I have ever had! Really even, looks natural and still looks great over a week later! Best thing was that I got it done at my place! Really well priced as well! Would never go back to a salon to get a tan done again!" Libby Blackburn I love getting feedback! I always wonder what you think of your tan if you are a first timer, so please get in touch with me and let me know your thoughts. If you send me a photo of you looking fabulous with your tan that is put on our facebook page - you can have your next tan free! Keep smiling everyone - and be Suntan Savvy. |
